We currently have a long term freelance opportunity with an imminent start for a Highways Superintendent to be based in Exeter. The successful candidate will be expected to assist the Highway Engineer with all aspects of management services including being responsible for carrying out a system of continuous inspection to monitor condition, record defects and initiate appropriate remedial action. Identifying the needs and priorities for highways maintenance work, in order that an effective works programme can be developed and implemented. Applicants should be capable of monitoring activities on the public highways of all bodies, liaising with Statutory bodies, the police and others with regard to works on the public highway and initiate any necessary action to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the highway by promoting compliance with Health and Safety requirements, CDM and chapter 8 in the carrying out of works. This position attracts a competitive rate of remuneration and is expected to be ongoing through to 2010.
