History Argent Recruitment was founded by Tony Metcalfe MEng MREC CertRP in 2007 after many years working for some of the largest employment agencies in the UK. As a Member of the Recruitment and Employers Confederation and holder of the Certificate of Recruitment Practice, he is qualified to manage the entire recruitment process, advise on employment legislation and is required to act, at all times, in accordance with industry best practice. Tony has lived in the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge area for most of his life and aims to use both this local knowledge and his professional skills to enable Argent Recruitment to work in partnership with local employers and become an increasingly valuable resource for the entire community. As he has a Masters degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and gained the majority of his recruitment experience within the construction consultancy field Argent Consultants have a head start in terms of both long-term contacts and industry knowledge. This may seem counter-intuitive as we make our money from placing staff but all employment agencies depend, to a large extent, on word of mouth, from both clients and candidates, for growth and as such a record of ultimately unsuccessful placements is in no-one's interest, least of all ours. At Argent we aim to use both information technology and bespoke software as tools to promote efficiency and enable our staff to provide the highest possible levels of service. As an organisation we are highly decentralised, with web-hosted packages enabling our staff to quickly get the information they need whether they are in an office or at home. We encourage flexible working for our staff and are keen to promote a healthy work-life balance and as such believe that a consultancy environment is a more likely route to long-term success than a heavily driven sales culture.
